About Gateway Park
Gateway Park is The City of Fort Worth’s new state-of-the-art athletic facility. It features three flood-lit,
RealGrassTM synthetic pitches, wireless electronic scoreboards, covered bleachers and other amenities.
The City’s guidelines for use of this multi-million dollar facility are strictly enforced. The city of Fort Worth
and the Fort Worth Rugby Club appreciate your patience in respecting the following rules and guidelines:
- No food or beverages (other than water) are allowed inside the playing enclosures. There is a large concourse area between the pitches that is the designated food and beverage pavilion (see map below). Please inform all players and supporters about these restrictions and don’t abuse the City’s field monitors for politely telling you to throw away your food and beverage as you near the fields – they are only doing their jobs.
- No aluminum studs are allowed on the fields. Molded cleats are preferred but rubber screw-in cleats are acceptable. Any type of standard, cleated athletic shoes are safe for play in all weather.
Other important information about Gateway Park:
- Bleacher seating is limited for fans and the entire park is completely paved. Spectators will be given seating preference for the bleachers and will be asked to watch matches from the near sides of the field.
- No tents will be allowed to be set-up inside the park perimeter. If your team plans on bringing one, it will have to be set-up in the wooded areas to the east of the fields and the main parking lot.
- The Fort Worth Rugby Club has permission to set up a limited number of tents inside the facility. These tents can be rented by any participant for $50.

Sunday - Free Coaching & Referee Session - Sponsored by STRR
Featuring A-panel referee Kevin McCaslin.
On Sunday, October 7, the Society of Texas Rugby Referees (STRR, www.strr.net)
will sponsor a field session on Laws/Refereeing from 9am-1pm at Gateway Park.
STRR is bringing in Kevin McCaslin to help coach and evaluate the refs on Saturday at the tournament, followed by the field session
on Sunday.
An announcement and the latest information is posted on the STRR website.
The STRR would like to invite all club coaches and team captains to attend the Sunday session, where one of USA Rugby's
top referee trainers will be working with our referees on practical applications of the Law. This will be an outdoor, informal session on
the field. The session will cover for each set piece and all loose phases (Tackle, Ruck, Maul) the key things referees should be looking at
and how they communicate with players and captains.
For more information contact Greg Puklicz, STRR North Scheduler.
Pub Crawl
The Pub Crawl is back! Last year the Cowtown Tournament experimented with scheduling the rugby finals after dark. This year the finals will be complete before 7:00 pm so all participants have a chance to make the crawl.
This year’s crawl will start at 8:00 PM and end after 2:00 AM, featuring specials on Rahr and Sons
beer – the official beer of the Fort Worth Rugby Club – at locations throughout
downtown. A pub crawl schedule will be included in your tournament information
packets. (No over-turned billiards tables this year, please!)
